About

Our Preschool

SHS Little Red Preschool is a training lab for high school students to "grow and learn together" as they teach preschoolers under the direction of a certified, experienced teacher and an adult technician.

Early Childhood Education (ECE) 1 and 2 students are introduced to child-related careers and the Child Development Associate Credential (CDA). Instruction is given regarding developmentally appropriate practices (DAP), curriculum and facility design for young children. Early Childhood Education lab training is a part of the course.

Early Childhood Education (ECE) 3 provides students an opportunity to work with children in a professional lab setting. Students enrolled in this course will: teach young children, demonstrate positive employment skills, maintain a healthy environment for children, and develop positive relationships with children. On-site lab experiences are a major component of the course. Students will continue preparing for the Child Development Associate Credential (CDA).

Kris Kelly is a Family & Consumer Science teacher at Springville High School teaching Child Development and Early Childhood Education. She is also the Director/teacher of the Preschool lab ran by ECE students. She previously owned and operated a large preschool for 15 years.
